Beyond Introversion Has Gotten a Birthday Makeover!

It's hard to believe that today is the 1st anniversary of our very first blog. So I felt compelled to provide a heartfelt THANK YOU!

Come check out our website. We're celebrating by enjoying a Birthday Makeover!

Changing Perspective

Honestly, my early blogs were very focused on my own development. I had just finished drafting my memoir and the blog was a way to continue to flush out my own feelings and move on in a positive way. Over the last few months, I've sought to refocus the blog more on you. I'm featuring more personal and work-related topics that many introverts face. I still sprinkle in some personal experiences which I think many can relate to.

Though the shape and size of our weekly postings have changed a lot over the year, what has really changed is my approach. The blog has provided lots of opportunities to engage with other introverts. Many of you have shared your stories of personal strife and happy endings. Just the fact that so many of you feel comfortable to share gives me a warm feeling. When some feel inspired by my blog, I'm motivated to give more.

Various Topics

For those that have been with me since last summer, I used to feature a particular topic for each week of the month. Now, I just select a topic that feels current, important, or inspirational. They typically fall into one of these categories:

  • Healthy & Happy: ranging from general info to digging deep on introversion traits

  • Leisure Learning: topics include hobbies, travels, and managing the holidays

  • Introverts are Leaders Too!: tips and stories supporting the unique leadership skills of introverts

  • Write On, Dude!: many introverts like to write, ranging from journaling to books. I share my own experiences and provide tips on how to get value from journaling or market your work with integrity

  • Guest Bloggers: I'm so fortunate to have hosted a wide variety of talented and interesting guests ranging from other authors, activists, therapists, extroverts, and educators. It's a great chance for you to get a new perspective on our topics and other's work.

From the website, you can view blogs in each of these categories or search to find a specific topic for you. I have lots of new topics and guests lined up for 2020. And I'd love to hear from you. Send me an email at BeyondIntroversion@gmail.com and let me know what you'd like to hear about.

Weekly Calendar

My schedule has changed a lot. I used to spend a couple of hours a few days during the week pulling the blog together. But I found the breaks were distracting.

  • Wednesday: I publish my blog on Wednesday morning.

  • Wed/Thurs: I have a long list of topics for future blogs. On Wednesday/Thursday I scan the list and choose the topic that most moves me. I ponder the topic and my approach, usually on neighborhood walks or occasionally with the aid of a glass of wine.

  • Friday: I sit down in a quiet corner and draft up the full blog.

  • Sat/Sun: The weekend is reserved for editing and polishing it up.

  • Mon/Tue: Early week casual reread. I always find typos and a few final edits.

  • Wednesday: I send my post to my email list and post to Social Media...and the week starts again.

If you haven't subscribed yet, check out the website here. When you subscribe, I'll send you a bonus feature, OK I'm an Introvert, Now What? Afterward, my blog will drop into your mailbox every Wednesday. In addition to the blog, you can check out my new memoir, In Search of Courage, my NEXT projects, and my MEDIA activity. And if you are looking for even more community, join our Beyond Introversion Facebook Group!

Don't worry, I appreciate your trust and respect your privacy. I will never share your email and limit my emails to weekly blogs and seasonal newsletters. And you can provide feedback from my website's CONTACT page.

Thanks again for all the support. I'm thrilled to kick off year 2!
